Improving GitHub writing on mobile
Earlier today when I wrote the post on the Github app I noticed two things that are different when ‘coding’ on the phone versus on a laptop.
First is the screen size is much smaller. When writing sentences on a small screen part of the sentence disappears off the side of the screen. There is a fix for this. Go to the settings menu and turn on “word wrap”. Now the text will ‘wrap’ on lines below instead of off the side of the screen. The line numbers are on the left column so it’s clear where actual new lines are.
The second thing I noticed was the typos. Autocorrect on phones is very helpful when writing text. When writing code it’s a nightmare though. In my case I’m not writing code on my phone. Just text for posts and creating new issues. Both of these will be easier with autocorrect.
So for now I’ve turned on the settings for word wrap and auto correct. The goal is to get 1% better every day. These settings will persist and carry into tomorrow making future daya easier.
Onwards and upwards.
